Local History Talk: On the Shoulders of Others. Historian and lifetime WVHS member Sally Landis Bohon will tell the stories of courageous and enterprising women who were influential in the development of DeLand. Some are well-known figures and some whose stories are forgotten. These women and others like them faced the incredible risks of frontier living or were activists who created critical organizations including the Hospital Auxiliary, Woman's Club and the Junior Service League. They championed education, health care and religious opportunities, and nurtured generations to establish the DeLand community as it continues today. Conrad Educational & Research Center, 137 W Michigan Ave, DeLand. 6 pm. Free and open to the public.
